Travel experts SkyParkSecure recently analysed a number of factors to put together a ranking of the most romantic honeymoon road trip routes in Europe.

The Wild Atlantic Way stretches for 2,500 km (1,553 miles) and is one of the longest-defined coastal routes around the world.

A route that tourists to Ireland can’t get enough of, it emerged as the fourth-most romantic road trip in Europe, according to the research.

The Wild Atlantic Way is one of the longest-defined coastal routes around the world and one that tourists love to explore when visiting the Emerald Isle.

Cover all of Ireland’s incredible west coast, nine different counties and three of Ireland’s provinces, the route starts at the Inishowen Peninsula in Donegal and skirts all the way down to Kinsale in Cork.

To outline the most romantic road trip routes in Europe, the company analysed a number of factors.

This included the amount of couple-friendly activities, romantic restaurants, and honeymoon locations along various routes in Europe.

It also includes the average distance between stops in the final ranking and eventually gives each road trip route a score out of 40.

Offering 560 couple-friendly activities, 201 honeymoon locations, 323 romantic restaurants, and an average of 103 km (64 miles) between stops on this route, the Wild Atlantic Way emerged with a score of 17 out of 40, coming in fourth place.

Italy’s Amalfi Coast emerged as the top romantic road trip in Europe, according to SkyParkSecure’s ranking. This famous route came out with an unbeatable score of 38 out of 40.

The site applauded the Amalfi Coast for its “dramatic coastlines and pretty towns”, as well as the beauty that Positano, Capri, Naples, and more offer.

In second place is Andalusia in Spain, given praise for having a staggering 735 couple-friendly activities along the way.

In third place is Portugal’s Algarve, “with its golden sandy shores, and lush green golf courses”. You can read the full list of findings here.
