A local street artist painted the new mural featuring actor Adrian Dunbar in his home town of Enniskillen, County Fermanagh.
Northern Irish native and actor Adrian Dunbar has made his mark on audiences after starring as Superintendent Ted Hastings in the BBC police drama Line of Duty.
Winning fans over with his hilarious Northern Irish phrases, a local street artist painted the brand new mural of Adrian Dunbar in his hometown of Enniskillen.
The mural, featuring Adrian Dunbar in his role as Superintendent Ted Hastings from the popular BBC police drama Line of Duty, was revealed this month.
The striking mural includes a portrait of Dunbar as Hastings, alongside one of his signature catchphrases, “Now we’re sucking diesel”.
Karl Fenton of Fenz Art and Danni Simpson painted the mural located in Dunbar’s hometown of Enniskillen, County Fermanagh. Fans can find the colourful mural on Church Lane, Enniskillen, close to Charlie’s Bar.
Experience Enniskillen announced the mural on Facebook. A spokesperson said, “We are delighted to reveal our latest mural. This one at the back of Charlie’s Bar with Enniskillen’s favourite son, Adrian Dunbar, the star on the wall!”
Fans flocked to the mural of Adrian Dunbar in Enniskillen and others shared their joy on Facebook.
One commented, “The man needs to be given the freedom of the town”. Meanwhile, another wrote, “I hope he has a photo opportunity for you on his next visit.”
The 63-year-old actor has enjoyed a long and varied career across stage and screen.
However, his role as a officer Hastings in Line of Duty has been the pinnacle of his career to date. In the series, Dunbar plays a detective determined to uncover so-called “bent coppers”.
The mural of Adrian Dunbar is only his most recent success in his long line of accolades.
Earlier this month, Line of Duty won Best Returning Drama and Special Recognition at the National Television Awards. Further, GQ Men of the Year awarded Dunbar TV Actor of the Year at the start of September.
Currently, Adrian Dunbar is playing Ghost/Claudius in Hamlet at the Young Vic in London. In June 2021, ITV announced a new detective drama, Ridley, with Dunbar in the lead role.
Dunbar commented, “I don’t think I’ve ever headed into a production with more excitement and enthusiasm. As an actor, I know how rare it is to be given such a wonderful opportunity.”
Ridley is a contemporary crime drama series that will introduce audiences to charismatic Inspector Alex Ridley (played by Dunbar). When the series begins, Ridley is retiring from the police after 25 years of serving as a homicide officer.
Ridley’s replacement will be Acting DI Carol Farman, whom he mentored for many years. Farman brings Ridley on as a police consultant on a complex murder case that takes a dark and unexpected turn. She then turns to her old mentor for support.
Other compelling cases emerge, with Ridley moving out of retirement and back into his former role.
Inspired by real-life retired detectives re-joining police forces, Ridley takes up a consultancy role due to increasingly over-stretched resources. ITV is currently filming the series.
