There was good news for female entrepreneurs in Ireland’s capital as Dublin was recently voted as being one of the best cities for female entrepreneurship.
The significant progress that Dublin has made in recent years regarding successfully fostering women’s entrepreneurship, especially within the tech sector, was recognised recently.
The county earned a very respectable ranking in the Women Entrepreneur Cities Index, beating out many other great cities in the official standings.
Women Entrepreneur Cities Index – ranking cities on a variety of factors
The Women Entrepreneur Cities Index ranked 55 cities on various factors such as technology, capital, culture, talent and markets.
In particular, the research highlighted Dublin’s advantage in easily accessing a qualified and diverse workforce and the fact that it plays a central role as a significant global hub for cybersecurity.
When it came to ranking the top 25 cities for women entrepreneurship, Dublin was deemed to be more than worthy. The city came 23rd out of 55 cities for its ability to attract and foster female entrepreneurs.

Dublin had confirmation that it was heading in the right direction as the results were released as part of this year’s Women Entrepreneur Cities Index.
The study from Dell Technologies showed Dublin climbing 11 positions since 2017 when it ranked in 34th place.
Dublin performed brilliantly in the list of the most advanced cities for women entrepreneurs who work in the tech sector, ranking in 7th place.
Other significant rankings that Dublin achieved in the Women Entrepreneur Cities Index were 8th place out of 55 cities in gender equality in leadership in the tech industry and 12th place in regard to Dublin’s access to role models and mentors for other women.
Also, Dublin’s progress over the last six years earned them the prestigious honour of having the third-highest momentum score.

Ciara Dempsey, Regional Sales Senior Manager at Dell Technologies Ireland, spoke on the research.
She said, “The Dell WE Cities report is a key piece of research that not only highlights the importance of creating an environment where women entrepreneurs can thrive but also how collectively we can empower a greater number of female leaders to grow their business here in Ireland”.
Dempsey added that further investment in female entrepreneurs would be required to continue fostering a system where business leaders can thrive regardless of gender.
“While there’s still much progress to be made, it’s fantastic to see Dublin recognised as an emerging hub for talented women entrepreneurs, especially in the technology industry”, she said.
