Netflix have confirmed that the Irish star of the moment, Barry Keoghan, will join icon Cillian Murphy to star in the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie.
Popular British period drama Peaky Blinders ran for almost a decade, with six seasons keeping global fans of the show hooked.
Now, online streaming platform Netflix have revealed that the series will take to the big screen soon – with plenty of actors joining the original cast from the BBC series.
In their latest announcement, Netflix revealed that Ireland’s star of the moment Barry Keoghan will join Cillian Murphy to star in the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie.
An all-star Irish cast – building excitement for the movie
Dublin native Barry Keoghan is the latest star announced to be joining Cillian Murphy to star in the new Peaky Blinders movie.
Netflix made the announcement earlier this week. However, details of the role Keoghan will take on remains a secret for now.
The Oscar-nominated actor rose to prominence after he portrayed the innocent Dominic Kearney in The Banshees of Inisherin (2022). Since then, his star has continued to rise with roles in hit films like Saltburn (2023) and The Batman (2022).
Reuniting on the big screen – two talented Irish actors
The Peaky Blinders movie will not be the first time Barry Keoghan has starred alongside Cillian Murphy. The two Irish actors previously worked together in 2017 on the Oscar-winning war epic Dunkirk (2017).
Netflix first released the news of the Peaky Blinders movie in June. Speaking on the announcement, Murphy said, “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me.
“It is very gratifying to be collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans.”
Murphy will reprise his role as gangster Tommy Shelby and Swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson will also join the cast.
