Two Irish cities have ranked among the best student cities in the world for 2022. However, you might be surprised to discover that Dublin and Belfast didn’t make the cut.
Also known as Ireland’s second city, Cork came in at 22 with an overall score of 4.19 out of five. Meanwhile, Ireland’s Cultural Capital Galway ranked 24th with an overall score of 4.14.
So, if you’re considering studying in Ireland, you might want to widen your horizons from the capitals to discover the country’s other top student cities.

TheCampusAdvisor.com is a global student review website that allows users to rate and review various aspects of their university experience.
On the website, students can review their university, academic staff, campus facilities, accommodation, and much more.
Over the past year, Campus Advisor has surveyed over 12,164 students to discover their thoughts on the cities they live in while attending university.
Considering several factors, including student friendliness, cost of living, nightlife, public transport, amenities, safety, and the opinions of current students, they came up with a list of the top 30 best student cities in the world for 2022.
We are delighted that, according to the study, two Irish cities ranked among the best student cities in the world.
Two Irish cities ranked among the best student cities in the world – why study in Ireland?
Cork came in at number 22, with an overall score of 4.19 out of five. When the results are broken down, it is revealed that the city scored best when it came to student friendliness and nightlife.
For student friendliness, Cork received a score of 4.69, and for nightlife, the city received an impressive 4.63. Cork also scored well regarding amenities (4.28) and safety (4.42).
Where the city fell short, however, was with its cost of living, for which it scored just 3.25 and public transport, with 3.84.
Just behind Cork in 24th is Galway, with an overall score of 4.14. The city also scored highest regarding student friendliness, with a score of 4.64 and nightlife, with a score of 4.62.
Galway scored 4.25 for amenities and 4.20 for safety. Meanwhile, the city received a score of just 3.75 for public transport and 3.40 for the cost of living.
The best student cities in the world – helping you decide
Ranking alongside the two Irish cities ranked among the best student cities in the world are plenty of fantastic student-friendly cities.
Taking the top spot, with an impressive 4.69 out of five, is Melbourne, Australia. Newcastle, UK closely follows in second position with a score of 4.53 out of five.
Seoul, South Korea, came in third, scoring 4.52 out of five, and Vienna came in fourth with 4.46 out of five. Montreal in Canada closed out the top five with a score of 4.44 out of five.
