Pret A Manger to open 20 stores across Ireland

The chain will expand operations across the island of Ireland over the next decade, creating over 500 new jobs.

Popular UK coffee and sandwich chain Pret A Manger has revealed plans to open 20 new stores across Ireland over the next decade.

Known informally as ‘Pret’, the chain is a popular breakfast and lunch spot with people all across Scotland, England, and Wales.

Up until now, people in Ireland could only enjoy the delights of Pret on trips across the water. However, that is all set to change as the chain plans to open its first store in Ireland this summer.

UK bakery chain Greggs, known for their pastries and sausage rolls, first expanded into Ireland in 2016. The chain now has 17 outlets in Northern Ireland and proves a popular choice with those looking for a cheap, quick, and tasty lunch or snack.

The arrival of this popular UK chain got members of the Irish public wondering when the UK’s other favourite lunch option, Pret A Manger, would make its debut in Ireland.

Well, now the wait is over as Pret A Manger reveals plans to open 20 stores across Ireland over the next decade.

The expansion is set to take place over the next ten years, with the first store opening on Dublin’s bustling Dawson Street this summer. This new Dublin location will create 25 new jobs in the city.

Taking to Twitter, the chain posted a string of tweets from Irish fans of the brand. One Twitter user wrote, “My favourite thing about London @Pret please come to Dublin.”

Another wrote, “dear @Pret please come to Dublin”. Meanwhile, another went as far as saying, “Think I’d sell another county just to have Pret in Ireland.”

Thankfully, no desperate measures needed to be undertaken as the brand responded to its Irish fans, saying, “We’re coming to Dublin!

Our first Irish shop will be opening later this summer 2022, we can’t wait to meet you all.”
