Sam Chadwick is one of the outdoor experts at the UK outdoor lifestyle store Millets. He compiled a list of Northern Ireland’s top hidden gems you should explore this summer.
He wrote, “In recent years, more people have discovered the benefits of spending time outdoors, with hotspots like the Giant’s Causeway becoming increasingly popular.
“We have compiled a list of Northern Ireland’s best hidden gems, for those who want to avoid the crowds whilst enjoying the outdoors.”

The Mourne Mountains in County Down, Lough Navar Forest in County Fermanagh, and Blackhead Lighthouse in County Antrim topped the list.
The outdoor experts also named White Park Bay and Kinbane Castle in County Antrim, as well as Cladagh Glen in County Fermanagh, as Northern Ireland’s top hidden gems to explore this summer.
Chadwick also offered some advice for those planning to get outdoors and explore this summer. He wrote, “If you are visiting any area of the UK this summer, it is important to be prepared.
“Ensuring that you pack a backpack or rucksack with enough food and water, as well as a change of clothes is vital. It is also a good idea to pack waterproof clothing, as the UK’s weather can be unpredictable.
“Walkers should also wear supportive footwear when visiting sites with uneven and muddy terrain. This helps to reduce the risk of injury, or of tripping over uneven footpaths.”
Chadwick also highlighted the importance of respecting the environment and places you visit when you’re out exploring this summer.
He said, “You must also leave any place you visit exactly as you found it. Take any rubbish and equipment, such as camping chairs or windbreakers, home with you and be respectful of any wildlife and other people around you.”
