In 2023, some of Dublin Airport’s airlines have set up some new and exciting flight routes that connect the Irish capital with the rest of Europe and even further afield to the United States.

10. Olbia, Italy – visit the northeast coast of Sardinia
The port city of Olbia on Sardinia’s northeastern coast boasts some stunning beaches, making it a popular yet still relatively quiet tourist destination.
Its key point of interest, though, is undoubtedly its archaeological history. Olbia is home to both an archaeology museum and a hilltop archaeological complex with stunning views over the Gulf of Olbia below.
This flight is operated by Aer Lingus and is set to run until 30 September.
9. Castellón, Spain – the handiest airport for one of Europe’s best music festival
This flight to Castellón in Spain’s Valencian Community is just a 30-minute drive away from the site of Festival Internacional de Benicà ssim.
Previous headliners include Arctic Monkeys, Kraftwerk, and Radiohead, and the festival attracts thousands of Irish and British music fans.

8. Trieste, Italy – an Adriatic idyll
Trieste is an Italian city on the Adriatic coast that is well-known for its castles and university.
It was also the home of Irish literary great James Joyce. Joyce lived in Trieste in the early 1900s and began work on his short story collection Dubliners in the city.

7. Leipzig, Germany – one for football fans
Leipzig has become established as a cultural hub in Germany, with many artists of all disciplines settling in the city in recent years. It is also the home of the prominent German football team RB Leipzig.
RB Leipzig have regularly challenged for the Bundesliga in recent seasons. They will play in the coming season’s Champions League, and so Irish football fans will certainly keep an eye on this new flight route from Dublin Airport.

6. Cleveland, Ohio, USA – visit the shores of Lake Erie
Cleveland, Ohio, is on the banks of one of the Great Lakes of North America – Lake Erie.
The city is also hugely popular amongst theatre-goers: Cleveland’s Playhouse Square is the second-largest performing arts centre in the country after New York’s Lincoln Centre.

5. Bergen, Norway – Norway’s street art capital

4. Hartford, Connecticut, USA – an alternative route to New York
Yet another new transatlantic flight from Aer Lingus, passengers can now fly to Hartford, Connecticut.
American literary greats Harriet Beecher Stowe and Mark Twain lived in Hartford, and there are museums at their former residences.
This new flight route from Dublin Airport also offers travellers a potentially cheaper option for visiting New York City. Hartford is a mere two-and-a-half-hour drive from the Big Apple.

3. Stockholm, Sweden – one of the world’s biggest museum cities
History buffs may want to take a trip from Dublin to the Swedish capital. Stockholm boasts around 100 museums, including the Swedish History Museum, the Nobel Museum, and the Nordic Museum.
Stockholm is also a must-visit for coffee enthusiasts as it offers the perfect way to indulge in fika (Swedish coffee culture).
