New data from betting odds experts AceOdds highlights the best and worst cities for Irish pubs, according to Google review data.

Celebrated by 61 percent of U.S. consumers last year, St Patrick’s Day 2024 has already amassed a 172% search volume increase over the past month across the US, as the country prepares to indulge itself in its ‘most popular’ beer. 

AceOdds has calculated the total number of Irish pubs per city using Google review data. Looking at the number of pubs per person as well as other ranking factors such as their average rating, best rating and worst rating, the team then added them up out of a score of 100 to reveal the recommended cities to visit and celebrate St Patrick’s Day based on the quality of their Irish pubs.

Charleston is the best US city for Irish pubs, scoring 88 out of 100

As the US celebrates Irish American Heritage Month, the city of Charleston can claim to be the best overall city in the US for Irish pubs, according to new stats.

After reviewing 2,445 Irish pubs across US cities, the data places Charleston at the top of the list, as the city is home to 78 Irish pubs with an average rating of 4.4. 

Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Columbia in South Carolina also feature in the top 3 cities for Irish pubs across the US.

Montgomery, Alabama ranked worst city for Irish pubs this St Patrick’s Day 2024

According to review data, Montgomery, Alabama is the overall worst city in the US for Irish pubs, as the city only has 1 Irish pub which scored an average of 4.0.

Columbus, Georgia and Dover, Delaware also feature in the study as the remaining 2 overall worst cities in the US for Irish pubs.

Huntington, West Virginia took the top spot for having an Irish pub with the worst rating, only scoring 1.0 out of 5.0.

In total, 60% of the top 5 US cities for Irish pubs are located in the south of the US, with the total combined average rating for every Irish pub featured within the study scoring an above average of 4.3.
