Before meeting her family, Mila was a semi-feral kitten born on a farm. Classed as a Domestic Short Hair, she is an adorable little black moggie that you just want to cuddle. Owners Rachel and Sam can attest to that as they paid a visit to the farm and instantly fell in love with her.
Four years later, she has been on hundreds of adventures around Ireland, seeing more than most cats (and people) see in their lifetime. Now better known as Mila the Adventure Cat, she has gained an incredible following of over 40,000 people on her Instagram @irish_adventure_kitty.
How Mila’s adventures began ‒ the origin story of Mila the Adventure Cat
In a Q&A on Instagram, one person asked Rachel, “What motivated or inspired you to share Mila’s stories and your adventures with her?”
Rachel explained that she wanted to avoid “annoying” her friends and family with “constant cat photos” on her own social media pages. She also explained that she wanted to spread awareness and break the stigma that only dogs can go on adventures.
She explained, “Adventure cats haven’t really been a thing in Ireland (although there are starting to become more now). Instagram has become a wonderful community for me to meet like-minded people who love to explore with their cats (or other pets).”

Staying true to her name, Mila the Adventure Cat has enjoyed many wonderful travels around the Emerald Isle.
From Donegal to the Causeway Coast and Kilkenny to Sligo, Mila has seen some of the most bucket list-worthy destinations that Ireland has to offer.
A huge fan of mountains and forests, Mila enjoys meandering along nature trails and taking in the most scenic views she can find. She has even witnessed some of the most breathtaking sunsets we have ever seen!
