Imagine switching your phone off and heading into the woods for a relaxing weekend to connect with yourself and nature? Sounds like bliss.

In the digital age, it seems like a far-off dream to imagine a time when we’re not constantly connected.
The hum of life rumbles on, with work emails pinging through on a Saturday, companies bombarding you with marketing, and the vacuum of doomscrolling on social media.
Imagine you could switch it off, even just for a weekend. Disconnect from the digital world to reconnect with nature, with your nearest and dearest, and with yourself.
Well, that’s the concept behind Samsú, a complex of cosy woodland cabins just one hour from Dublin offering a peaceful digital detox.
Analogue only – switching off from the digital world

With constant digital stimulation, whether at home, at work, or on holidays, it can feel impossible to switch off from the outside world.
That’s why Rosanna Irwin decided to trade in corporate life to open her cosy woodland cabins offering a digital detox just one hour from Dublin.
Samsú is a word made up by Rosanna, inspired by her time on the Danish island of Samsø. It means, “The feeling of contentment in the present moment evoked by simple pleasures.
“Complete absence of frustrations or anything emotionally overwhelming – often enjoyed with warm blankets and surrounded by Irish nature.”
How does it work? – reconnecting with real life

Samsú currently comprises two cosy wooden cabins, tucked away in the wild nature of Wicklow and Westmeath.
When you arrive, you’ll padlock your phones and devices away. That way, you won’t be tempted to peek at social media or make a quick call. Everything you need is provided, including maps, a Polaroid camera, and even an old Nokia in case of emergencies.
The cosy woodland cabins offer a digital detox, giving you the chance to rediscover the joy of everyday rituals.
From hand grinding your coffee to making your way through the shelf of books to cooking over the fire, Samsú gives you the chance to enjoy the simple things in life.
There are many benefits to switching off your phone and reconnecting with nature. From boosting your mood to reducing stress and improving creative thinking, you’ll feel like a new person after just a few hours.
