Getting an affordable pint in some of Dublin’s most famous pubs and bars is notoriously tricky.
None other than the Temple Bar area comes in for criticism, with tourists hitting out back in August 2023 at the fact two pints of Guinness cost €17.90 (€8.95 each!).
However, rest assured, there are some fantastic bars spread across the capital where you can enjoy a pint or two without emptying the bank account. Once you find them, you won’t look back.

10. McGowan’s, Phibsboro – Thursday and Sunday nights only
On Thursday and Sunday nights, McGowan’s will serve pints across the board for €5 only. McGowan’s is one of the best spots for a night out in Dublin, with fantastic music, food, and a late bar, too.

9. Padraig Pearse – five euros in a central location
Padraig Pearse is an excellent bar near Bord Gáis Energy Theatre and Pearse Square Park in Dublin Two. Its central location makes its €5 price for a pint of Guinness all the more commendable.

8. The Gladstone Inn – pint after a coastal walk
Skerries is a beautiful part of County Dublin. Its 1.5km-long (0.9 mi) Skerries Coastal Trial, the Skerries Windmill, and Ardgillan Demesne are worth visiting.
After this, you will appreciate even more that a pint of the black stuff will only cost €5.

7. The Snug – Thursday trad night
One of the best places to get a pint in Dublin for less than €5 is The Snug.
Prices are hard to come by definitively, but in 2022 a pint of Guinness cost a mere €4.70, which would leave you change from your fiver.

6. Annesley House – traditional Irish pub
Similar to The Snug, an exact price takes a lot of work to come by.
But the Irish Independent reported in 2022 that a pint cost only €4.80, which is incredible value. This spot is well-liked and frequently hosts live music.

5. Downey’s – right on the button
Fifth on our list of the best places to get a pint in Dublin for less than €5 is Downey’s in Cabra. Now, a pint of Guinness is €5 on the button, an incredible value relative to the rest of the city.

4. J.T. Pims – cocktail bar with a side deal for Guinness
J.T. Pims is a well-known cocktail bar in Dublin renowned for its high-quality drinks and service.

3. Kavanagh’s – bring cash
Back in September 2023, when Diageo increased the price of pints of Guinness, Kavanagh’s in the Liberties came to the rescue.
They have announced that they will retain the price of €5 for a pint – so long as you pay in cash!

2. The Lark Inn – a top spot to get a pint in Dublin under €5
The Lark Inn, also in the Liberties area of Dublin, proudly promotes that it still sells a fantastic pint of Guinness for a mere €5. It is a great spot for an affordable pint while watching weekend sports.

1. The Auld Triangle – cheapest pint in the city
The Irish Independent revealed in January 2024 that a pint of Guinness in The Auld Triangle between Gardiner Street and Dorset is the cheapest in the city.
One pint of Guinness will cost you a mere €4.50! Compared to Temple Bar prices, this is effectively two for the price of one, true value for your money.
