There’s less than two weeks to go until Christmas Day. So, weather experts can make better predictions about what the weather will be like on 25 December.

When it comes to whether we’ll see a White Christmas in Ireland this year, here’s what the Met Éireann weather experts had to say.

They revealed, “A reasonably robust signal emerges with high pressure likely to be centred just to the southwest of Ireland.

“Temperatures are predicted to be slightly above normal overall. Although, with high pressure, there is a possibility of colder/frostier nights and lingering mist and fog during the days.”

An unlikely outlook – wintry showers and grey skies

Despite the colder than normal conditions throughout November and early December, experts have revealed that it’s unlikely we’ll get a White Christmas in Ireland this year.

So far, they’ve predicted “cloudy conditions” with “greater precipitation”, especially in the northwest. They also explained that the likelihood of “wintry showers” around the big day is a high possibility.

We guess it’s looking like we won’t be building any snowmen on Christmas Day this year then. But sure, there’s nothing like a cosy indoor Christmas with the family around the fireplace.

Or just make sure you’ve got your heating topped up before they close for Christmas!
