The Times has compiled a list of ‘The 25 best hotels by the British seaside’, and two fantastic hotels in Northern Ireland have made the cut.

The Times recognised a number of hotels and guesthouses by the British seaside, from “stylish hideaways” to “boutique bolt holes”.
Slieve Donard Hotel in County Down and Antique House in County Antrim have made the list of best hotels by the British seaside, and rightly so.
These two Northern Ireland hotels named as some of the top stays by the British seaside were listed for a reason. So, let’s take a look at where they finished and why.
Slieve Donard – overlooking the moody Dundrum Bay

The Slieve Donard Hotel and Spa in County Down came in at number 20 on the list. The magazine praised this stunning hotel for having “the world’s most prestigious and prettiest links golf courses.”
Any fans of golf out there will know that the 36 holes at the Royal County Down Golf Club make up one of the best golf courses in Northern Ireland and Ireland as a whole.
The article goes on to highlight the best features of the hotel. Anyone who has been to Murlough Bay and has seen the hotel from the “ribbon of golden sand” will recognise the stunning beauty of the Mourne Mountains that grace the background of the hotel.
Antique House – a stylish B&B

Antique House in County Antrim is a B&B that sits just a short walk away from the centre of the lovely seaside town of Portrush.
Coming in just behind Slieve Donard at number 21 on the list, Antique House is dubbed as a “magnet for fashionable weekenders from Belfast”.
It went on to praise the “trio of beaches” where you might spot a pod of porpoises from West Bay, enjoy the beautiful sand at East Strand, as well as spotting surfers at Whiterocks.
Antique House isn’t far from the Giant’s Causeway or Bushmills, so of course, these were mentioned as things to admire or visit if you stay at Antique House.
Two beautiful locations − Northern Ireland hotels named as some of the top seaside stays

As well as the natural beauty and surroundings of these seaside spots, they were also praised for their aesthetics and facilities.
Slieve Donard was noted for being a “red-brick pile in the Scottish-baronial style” and handy golf course, while Antique House was given praise for the “stylish rooms and French-toast breakfasts”.
Each seaside stays received high praise for being some of the best places to stay by the British seaside. While one is a luxury hotel and spa, the other a stylish B&B, both made it onto an eclectic list of wonderful places to stay.
