International travel company Big 7 Travel has released a list of Europe’s top 50 rooftop bars, and two trendy Irish hangouts made the cut.
As bars across Ireland gradually reopen, many are looking for a trendy new spot to hang out with friends. If you’re stuck for ideas, you may want to check out these two Irish rooftop bars that have been named among the best in Europe.
International travel company Big 7 Travel revealed their list of ‘The 50 Best Rooftop Bars in Europe’ last week. We were chuffed to see two Irish hotspots mentioned in the running.
Drinks with a view – the perfect evening
As restrictions ease, the weather heats up, and the evenings get longer, we can think of no better way to spend an evening than sipping cocktails in the sun.
Thus, we were so excited to find out that Big 7 Travel had named two Irish rooftop bars among the best in Europe.
Coming in at number 36, the trendy Babel is the top spot for rooftop drinks in Belfast. Alternatively, if you’re in Dublin, Sophie’s should be your go-to spot coming in at number 33.
Babel, Belfast – a Northern Ireland favourite
Whether you’re heading out on a date or a night with friends, Babel is a must-visit if you’re in Belfast.
The trendy cocktail bar is one of the two Irish rooftop bars named among the best in Europe. And it’s not hard to see why!
Sat atop the luxurious Bullitt Hotel, you can sip your drink and grab a bite to eat while taking in the fantastic panoramic city views from the terrace.
For that extra something special, try one of their cocktails made from ingredients taken from the bar’s ‘living walls’.
According to Big 7 Travel, “Babel’s creative shrub cocktails use ingredients and garnishes inspired by its ‘living walls’, which are beautifully lush and contain over 300 plants.
“Watch bartenders pick fresh herbs straight from the walls to use in the drinks.”
Sophie’s, Dublin – cocktails in the capital
If you want to visit one of the two Irish rooftop bars named among the best in Europe while in Dublin, you’re in luck. Book a table at Sophie’s, which is located atop the stylish Dean Hotel on Harcourt Street.
This trendy Dublin bar serves delicious food and drinks, all against the backdrop of Dublin’s city skyline.
Big 7 Travel writes, “When the sunshine hits in Dublin, this is the place to make a beeline for.
“Sophie’s is a pretty rooftop bar and terrace in the Dean hotel, with zesty cocktails (try the Mad Ting, which is served in soda can). Once the sun goes down, things get toasty with blankets and heaters.”
So, if you’re looking somewhere new to try in two of the biggest cities on the island of Ireland, you know where to go!
