We were recently invited to check out the hotel and the brand new Self-Catering Woodland Lodges that opened last summer. From start to finish, we enjoyed a fantastic stay that we would recommend to anyone looking for a lakeside getaway in the heart of Northern Ireland.
Curious to find out more? If so, read on to discover our top five reasons to stay at the Killyhevlin Lakeside Hotel & Lodges.
5. There’s lots to see and do in the area – just one km (0.6 miles) outside of Enniskillen
Located just a five-minute drive outside of Enniskillen town centre, the Killyhevlin Lakeside Hotel & Lodges is perfectly situated for those who want to enjoy all the fun activities that the surrounding area has to offer.
From climbing the famous ‘Stairway to Heaven’ Cuilcagh Boardwalk Trail to discovering the magic of the Marble Arch Caves, which are some of the best caves in Ireland, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to fun activities for everyone.
While we were there, we got the chance to check out the Marble Arch Caves for ourselves. They are a unique Valentine’s date idea in Ireland, formed over 340 million years ago, the caves and the surrounding area are now one of Northern Ireland’s most popular tourist attractions, having been designated UNESCO Global Geopark status in 2015.
We were led by a knowledgeable tour guide down into the caves. Here, we learnt all about the incredible rock formations that lie within the caves and have formed over millions of years. We even got the chance to see some fossils that had melded into the rock.
As Enniskillen is Ireland’s only island town set at the heart of Lough Erne, there are also plenty of fun watersports and water-based activities to enjoy while you’re here.
Some of the most popular activities on offer include kayaking, paddleboarding, hydrobikes, canoeing, boat hire, and more.
We got the chance to try out hydrobikes with Erne Adventures, which was a unique and fun way to see around the town. Just when you thought cycling was a landbased activity, Erne Adventures sees you cycling on the water!
They offer single hydrobikes, which are suitable for ages eight and up, and tandem hydrobikes, which are suitable for two adults or kids under eight with an adult.
The experience is one hour-long, and you can check out Enniskillen’s top attractions, such as Enniskillen Castle.
4. Top-class onsite facilities – something for all the family
Undoubtedly one of the main reasons to stay at the Killyhevlin Lakeside Hotel & Lodges is the top-class onsite facilities. With something for all ages, you could spend your entire stay on the hotel grounds without running out of things to see and do.
While we were staying, we checked out the Kalm Spa and Health Club facilities, which were fantastic. You can work up a sweat at the onsite gym, where you can get in your daily workout. Complete with treadmills, weights, and various other machines, you can keep up with your fitness regime while you’re away.

3. Delicious food – catering for all dietary needs
One of the main reasons to stay at the Killyhevlin Lakeside Hotel & Lodges is the delicious food on offer in the Lakeside Bar and Grill and Kove Restaurant.
On our first night at the hotel, we enjoyed a delicious four-course meal in the Lakeside Bar and Grill. This restaurant overlooks the Lough Erne flowing behind the hotel. We were offered a selection of bread rolls, including freshly baked wheaten bread.
We were offered dairy and vegan butter to go along with the bread, which was the perfect way to start our meal.
The friendly staff were very accommodating and talked us through all of the vegan-friendly options on the menu – of which there were surprisingly many!
Dinner in the Lakeside Bar and Grill
To start, I had the Beetroot and Goat’s Cheese Salad, which came with candied walnuts and white balsamic dressing.
I skipped out on the goat’s cheese to make it vegan. However, the salad was still delicious, and the walnuts added a delicious crunch and a unique flavour.
My partner had the Popcorn Scampi, which was served with lettuce, pee puree, and homemade lemon infused tartare sauce. The portion was very generous, especially for a starter, and he said the dish was also fresh and delicious!
I chose the Vegetable and Nut Balti Curry for the main, which came with coriander naan, poppadom, and boiled rice. Again, the portion was very generous, and the curry was spicy and flavoursome.
The nuts added a nice crunch and a contrast in texture to the vegetables to make this a delicious dish. My partner opted for the Crispy Chicken Goujons, served with chips, coleslaw, sweet chilli, and garlic dip, which he said was also delightful.
No meal is complete without dessert, so of course, we finished ours with some delicious sweet treats. On the night we visited, there were several vegan options available. This included a Chocolate Torte, Bakewell Tart, vegan ice creams, and fruit salad.
I went for the Chocolate Torte, served with a scoop of vegan ice cream. It was indulgent, but not too heavy, making it the perfect end to a great meal. My partner had the Raspberry and White Chocolate Roulade, which he also thoroughly enjoyed!
The Lakeside Bar also serves a wide selection of premium brands and tempting cocktail menu with regular sessions of live music throughout the week.
Breakfast in Kove Restaurant
During our stay, we also got to enjoy breakfast in Kove Restaurant on both mornings. They have a great selection of offerings on their buffet breakfast. This includes hot food, cereals, toast, pancakes, fruit, pastries, porridge, and more.
We were also offered tea and coffee with our breakfast, making this the perfect way to fuel ourselves for the day!
2. Stunning surroundings – right in the heart of Fermanagh
Located right at the heart of County Fermanagh, one of the most unique selling points of the Killyhevlin Lakeside Hotel & Lodges is the beautiful surroundings and views you can enjoy from the hotel.
Overlooking Lough Erne, you can enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings from various places around the hotel.
One of our favourites was from the Woodland Lodge itself; we could relax in the private outdoor hot tub and watch boats travelling along the water, which was absolutely magical.
Some other great spots around the hotel to check out the view are the Lakeside Grill and Lakeside Terrace, the beautiful grounds behind the hotel, the lobby, and even the spa!
1. Unique and luxurious accommodation – plenty to choose from
Topping our list of reasons to stay at the Killyhevlin Lakeside Hotel & Lodges is the unique and luxurious accommodation they offer.
There are a range of Classic, Premier, Family-friendly, and pet-friendly hotel rooms. Or, if you like, you can upgrade to one of the luxury Signature Lakeside Suites. These all feature comfortable beds and all the amenities you could need from a hotel room.

We were lucky enough to enjoy a stay in the beautiful Woodland Lodges. These have the extra added luxury of a private hot tub. This was a fantastic indulgence that we made plenty of use of during our stay.
