5 Things To Do With Kids in Dundalk, County Louth

Dundalk is situated on the Castletown River which flows through the town. Dundalk’s names as Gaeilge – Dún Dealgan translates to ‘Dalgan’s stronghold’. Dundalk is in Co. Louth and is on the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. It is almost exactly halfway between Belfast and Dublin.

Studies suggest that the Dundalk area has been inhabited since at least 3500 BC, during what is known as the Neolithic Period. Dundalk in its modern form mostly owes its shape to a man named Lord Limerick in the 17th century. Dundalk is also home to the famous Dundalk FC, which are 1st in League of Ireland Premiership Division. Dundalk hosts the widely regarded, Dundalk Institute of Technology. The only Institute of Technology in Louth.

3. Aura Dundalk Leisure Centre

Aura Leisure Centre is located at St Alphonsus Rd, Marshes Lower, Dundalk, Co. Louth. During this summer heat why not take a dip in the state of the art pool at Auras leisure centre. Aura offer free swim time periods throughout the week and extra on weekends. This gives families the opportunity to take their kids swimming while not bothering serious athletes who use the pool in their own allocated time. This is perfect as it is always going to be a good safe time for the family.

2. Blackrock Beach

Black Rock Beach, obviously located in BlackRock Dundalk is a gorgeous day trip for the family. The beach is right on the main street which offers easy parking. While on the beach the kids can enjoy the sand and the sea, safely within the eye of parents. Along the street are various restaurants for a bite to eat, and a spar which gets most of its summer service from its fresh ice creams and the great number of toppings to choose from.

1. Airbound

Airbound Dundalk is located at Unit 19 North Link Retail Park, Coes Rd, Dundalk, Co. Louth. Airbound is a trampoline park built for all ages. Perfect for the kids and grown-ups alike. Airbound is made up of hundreds of square metres of interlocking trampolines covering the floor space and even going up the walls of the building. There are various sectors to the Airbound park including a Dodgeball Court, Slamdunk, Free jumping arena, High Towers and even an airbag. Airbound doesn’t just offer you the run of the mill trampoline experience. It offers each individual the opportunity to live out their stuntman/acrobatic dreams all in a safe environment.

At Airbound one can organise parties for kids. Each kids party package includes 1.5 Hour party time, Your own Airbound Party Crew. The one hour on Trampoline court includes the following: Dodgeball games, Free Jump, Refreshments at halftime and with party food, Airbound Socks for all party guests Party invitations if required, 30 mins in the party room for party food. Also included is set up and clean up by the Airbound staff. All this for only 16 euro per child. But if you decide to just go for the day with the family, the low price is only 12 euro including the deposit for Airbound socks. If you bring the socks next time, it will only cost you ten.
