There are plenty of must-haves us Irish rely on every day. Here are five things an Irish person would be lost without.

There are many things that Irish people love, but there are a few specific things we just couldn’t live without.
It was once said that God invented alcohol so the Irish wouldn’t take over the world, but maybe he also invented the rest of the things on this list for the same reason.
Truth be told, we are a clever bunch of people, so there might be some truth in that statement.
Luckily, however, life in Ireland has us slightly pre-occupied with the following five things to keep us really and truly entertained, excited, and fulfilled.
Check out the five things an Irish person would be lost without.
5. Umbrellas – for when we have four seasons in a day

Everyone in Ireland has experienced the ever-changing weather.
We know not to trust the weather forecast because, more often than not, we get caught in a terrible rainstorm without prior warning.
When the sun shines, we know that we could risk the shorts and t-shirt and head out without a ‘brolly’, but we’d be fooling ourselves. Deep down, we know that a storm could be rolling in at any time.
That’s Ireland for you; we often experience all four seasons in one day.
Everyone knows that there’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad preparation. So we always have an umbrella in our handbags or stashed in the car somewhere.
4. Free stuff – we love a bargain, but we love free stuff even more

There’s nothing that makes an Irish person happier than getting something for free.
It could be given to you for free, found online for free, or even just free service. Whatever it is, nothing makes us happier than feeling like we are getting something for nothing.
Just look at the free samples at the food counter in the supermarkets – they are often busier than the checkouts.
The Irish also love a good bargain but it’s much more satisfying to tell your friends and family you got something really cool, for absolutely nothing. Now that’s priceless!
3. Ryanair – our beloved budget airline

Irish people have been going abroad for centuries. Firstly to emigrate but nowadays to visit family abroad and to see other countries.
Irish people have come to love travelling, and most people have at least one or two big holidays per year, if not more.
With that being said, our favourite budget airline, Ryanair, has made Irish travel dreams a reality by offering extremely affordable flight options to the anywhere in Europe, and even some places further afield.
Ryanair enables Irish people to travel, even for short weekend breaks, at the drop of a hat, which is something we would be lost without. And sure we love a good bargain, don’t we?
2. TV shows – we love the telly box

Many Irish folk love a good television soap to watch in the evenings.
As well as an enjoyable evening’s viewing, television soaps also provide a great conversation starter. You can chat with almost anyone about what happened in last night’s episode of Corrie, or the cliff hanger at the end of Eastenders.
The Irish are also keen lovers of the Aussie soaps too, like Neighbours and Home and Away.
Now, of course, not everyone is a soap addict, but everyone certainly loves an entertaining TV series to binge on. We honestly don’t know what the Irish would do without a good TV show to follow.
1. Pints – pints for all occasions

On a list of things that an Irish person would be lost without, a good pint has to be number one.
It’s not that we are alcoholics – although that is the stereotype – but pints are just a massive part of our culture. Not to mention that Irish beer is some of the best in the world!
When something great happens, you go for pints, and when you’re drowning your sorrows, you go for pints. At weddings, you drink pints to celebrate, and at a wake, you drink pints to celebrate the life of the deceased.
Pints bring people together and are crucial to our society, so there’s no doubt we would be lost without a pint in our hand.
There you have it, the five things that an Irish person would be lost without.
We all probably fit into at least one of these categories, maybe without even realising it. But take away any of these five things, and you will soon understand how much we love and rely on them.
Where would be without our cheap holiday escapes, our variety of pint options, shelter from the unpredictable rain, our favourite telly shows, or getting our hands on free stuff – well we’d probably be taking over the world!
