Ranch only opened its doors in tourist-haven Tramore in summer of 2019 but is already garnering quite the reputation.

Don’t let the casual vibe and reasonable prices fool you – head-chef and co-founder Marko has years of experience in high-end dining, and he brings this in-depth knowledge of food into his pizza recipes.

Wood-fired bases complement his distinctively hearty homemade pizza sauce to create a product that is wholesomely filling without ever being stodgy. Oh, and there’s even vegan options!

The Parlour is well-known for its distinctive old Hollywood style, and delectable tea and cakes. In 2019, they decided to step up their game and start serving their now-famous Prohibition Pizza.

These beauties are made from scratch in a specially installed Prohibition Pulpit, and topped with local ingredients with a vintage twist.

For the full Parlour experience, order garlic bread and a selection of dips on the side, and eat in a full-length ball-gown while standing up at interval to perform a little jive.

While their flagship restaurant in Dunmore East is long-frequented by discerning locals, it is in the pop-up pizza scene that Azzurro has really got the bellies of Waterford rumbling.

Their wood-fired pizza stand is a much-loved addition to the numerous markets and festivals that Waterford offers throughout the year, as the crowds that flock around them as soon as they start up the ovens can attest to.

Azzurro has held regular weekend pop-up slot in The Ritz bar in Tramore, where residents had begun calling in specially to collect their mouth-watering pizzas to takeaway.

2.  Gino’s – no-frills local classic

This is one of the places that put pizza in Waterford on the map, and with good reason. Gino’s have a small menu and casual décor – yet on any given evening, you might find yourself queueing for a table. The food does the talking here, and it’s simply saying ‘eat me’.

The Gino’s Special with a side of garlic bread is the go-to order for many devoted locals – just make sure you save room for the famous Gino’s ice-cream afterwards!

Tramore locals have been celebrating recently as the iconic blue and yellow Gino’s signage has been spotted making its way towards the promenade as an eagerly awaited second branch is set to open soon – and we bet this one will be just as popular as its big sister.

What can we say about Slice? It’s now possible to be transported to New York while eating pizza in Waterford thanks to owner and head-chef John Keane (affectionately known as Johnny Slice), who is nothing short of a craftsman when it comes to his recipes.

Regulars await his pizza of the week offering with bated breath, knowing it will always be something slightly bonkers and surprisingly delicious (he recently served up a pizza inspired by the iconic chicken fillet roll, accompanied with a side of Monster Munch).

If you prefer to play it safe with your toppings, Slice’s exemplary Margherita highlights just how delectable simple quality ingredients can become in the hands of someone who knows what they’re doing and clearly loves their job.

Without hesitation, we crown Slice our number one choice for the best pizza in Waterford.
