This INCREDIBLE Irish Castle is the Most Visited Airbnb in Europe

Ever wanted to live in the lap of luxury and carouse around your own castle like a king or queen? Well, now’s your chance!

Not only is this enchanting castle like something from a fairytale but it is also listed as the most visited room on Airbnb (an online market place and accommodation booking platform) in all of Europe.

For those of you seeking somewhere special to spend the night or a weekend break away which will offer unforgettable memories, we think Cahercastle in County Galway could be just the ticket.

Standing strong since the 1400s, this castle is steeped in charm and offers a period stay which acts as a portal between Ireland’s present and ancient past.

The Property

This castle in County Galway – the European Capital of Culture 2020 – was built some time in the 15th-century castle, although an exact date is not known.

The medieval structure is built in solid stone and towers over the rugged fields which stretch into the distance.

Mature and wild grounds of dense foliage and flora only further enhance the aesthetic of this property.

At over 600 years old, this castle has been restored to its original state, while taking into consideration modern convenience.

Indeed an experience like no other, yet it is important for guests to remember, this is not a five-star hotel experience. This is an authentic castle experience!

The hosts go on to reiterate, “What to expect: lots of winding staircases, a castle that has been lovingly restored, but there are some cobwebs, and it gives you the real Irish castle experience. It’s not pristine, it’s not perfect, but it’s a real castle.”

While this castle setting transports you to a time long gone, visitors will be pleased to know that the property is super close to the city and accessed in only 25 minutes by car. Nearby pubs and local conveniences are within five minutes from the estate.

As this property is approximately two miles from the nearest public transport, guests are advised that they will need a car to access the property.

The Fine Details

Cahercastle is a medieval restored castle that vows to offer you a once in a lifetime experience.

It is important for guests to note that this is a private residence and visitors will not have the entire place to themselves.

Staying guests will have sole access to a living room (with a couch that can sleep one person), kitchen, bath and a master bedroom, which sleeps two.

The private guest quarters are spread over the top two floors of the castle, ensuring breath-taking views of the surroundings. Please note castle access entails over 50 spiral steps via a narrow winding staircase.

The hosts explain, “Castles were never designed with bathrooms and showers, so we’ve improvised. You’ll have to come downstairs to have a bath which is located in the living room – this is the quirkiest part of the castle.”

Although the castle’s integrity has been retained during renovation and the hosts have paid absolute attention to restoring it to its former glory, there are many modern conveniences.

For example, there is solar water heating, under-floor heating and Wi-Fi.

However, the likes of TVs have been excluded, trying to keep in tone with the period decor.

While privacy is respected during guest stays, hosts Peter and Eva have spent the past ten years restoring this property with love and dedication, and are on-hand for any assistance you may need.
