Bushfoot Strand was once named one of the “best surfing beaches in the UK” by Coast Radar. So, if you’re keen to take to the waves of the Causeway Coast with an almost empty line-up, this is a spot you can’t miss.

There’s a free car park at Bushfoot Road in Portballintrae, from which you can follow a quiet boardwalk down to the shore. Swimming is not advised due to strong tides and rip currents.

Still, the beach offers endless charm, with its rugged cliffs, unrivalled views of the northwest Atlantic, and scenic walking trails, not to mention its quiet, secluded charm.

So, do you need a break from the crowds at The Royal Portrush this weekend? If so, pay a visit to the hidden gem of Bushfoot Strand near Portrush for a moment when it’s just you and nature.
