Greencastle is one of the most beautiful Irish seaside towns in the northwest. However, it’s probably one you’ve never heard of, as it often goes unnoticed by tourists visiting the island.

That’s all about to change, as Greencastle’s gaining a reputation for its authentic Irish charm and scenic coastal beauty.

The town takes its name from the ancient Anglo-Norman castle, which dates back to 1305. There’s also a Martello fort near the castle ruins, which was built to guard against French invaders during the Napoleonic wars.
