Survey reveals Dublin is now Europe’s second most expensive place to live

It’s no secret that prices in the Irish capital can be eye-wateringly high. Now, a new survey has revealed that Dublin is, in fact, the second most expensive place to live in Europe.

Dublin has been ranked as the second most expensive place to live in Europe.

Dublin is now Europe’s second most expensive place to live and work, according to a new survey by neo-bank Bunq.

The Irish capital ranked above the likes of Paris, Amsterdam, and Berlin. Meanwhile, the only big European city that came in as more expensive for digital nomads to settle in was London.

With prices continuing to rise across the city, it’s becoming increasingly difficult for people to set up a life in Dublin, which has now been ranked as Europe’s second most expensive city.

The survey by Bunq looked into the costs for digital nomads to set up a base. It revealed that Dublin is now Europe’s second most expensive place to live and work.

They found that Ireland’s capital city was pricier across several metrics than Paris, Copenhagen, Stockholm, and 25 other cities.

According to their findings, it was also three times as expensive for remote workers to establish a temporary base in Dublin compared to Europe’s cheapest cities.

Bunq’s Working Abroad Index analysed data to discover the cost of living in various European cities for those who have chosen to work remotely across international borders.

They found that the average monthly cost of living in Ireland’s capital rose to €2,633.78 in 2024. This means Dublin is now Europe’s second most expensive place to live and work.

However, this hasn’t stopped plenty of digital nomads from setting up their work base in Dublin, with currently over half a million working from the city for international companies.

Following behind Dublin, Amsterdam ranked third, followed by Luxemburg and Copenhagen, making up the top five.
