St. Patrick’s Day is our favourite time of year. It may sound clichéd, but it’s true. It’s a wonderful day that gives us the opportunity to celebrate being Irish. And with great festivities, it makes for a wonderful day out with family and friends.

On Tuesday the 17th of March, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade will explode into life on the streets of Bray (a wonderful coastal town not far from Dublin), celebrating the many cultures, communities, and organisations of the vibrant city. If this sounds like something you want to be a part of, then read on for all the information you’ll need to do that.

The St. Patrick’s Festival Bray committee is appealing for anyone interested in helping out with their St. Patrick’s Day parade to visit their website and fill out an application form. Participants will be expected to provide a colourful display for the thousands of spectators expected to line the streets when the holiday arrives.

Some examples of displays they said they are looking for include colourful flags, banners, hats, and anything similar to these. Basically, the brighter the better!

If you’re part of an organisation that wants to join in on the parade, this would be an excellent opportunity to showcase what it is that you do. There’s also the possibility that your organisation may win a prize; at the parade, judges on the viewing stand will determine which group was the most unique and creative with their display. There are several different categories to win an award in, so you’ve got plenty of chances!

If you wish to apply, you can fill out the 2020 St. Patrick’s Day Parade application form on the Bray.ie website

The application must be completed before 14th February; otherwise, your form will not be considered.

The Bray St. Patrick’s Day festival last year ran from Thursday the 14th to Monday the 18th—that’s right, a long weekend of pure, amazing, Irish fun. This year is expected to be no different.

Some of the events that were available to visit at the festival last year included a funfair, an open-air cèili, puppet shows, street theatre, walks, trails, live music events, and of course the main event itself: the St. Patrick’s Festival Parade.

Some events at the 2020 festival will include outdoor circus performers, the Bray Vintage Car Club, and Bird’s EuroShow Funfair.

If you’re still not sold on going, here’s what the President of the Bray & District Chamber of Commerce, Pat Ó Súilleabháin, said: ‘There’s only one place to be this St Patrick’s weekend and that’s Bray. This year’s festival will be focusing on great family fun with a strong emphasis on celebrating the towns multicultural community so why not head to Bray for some incredible experiences you can’t get anywhere else’.
