Speaking to the Newry Reporter, dad Andrew explained the challenge. He said, “The challenge is to hike to the highest peak in every county in Ireland.

“It’s a challenge that High Point Ireland has been running for many years now. Since February, we have taken it upon ourselves to travel around the country and attempt.”

Explaining how it all began, Andrew said, “We started off local, doing Slieve Gullion and Slieve Foy in Armagh and Louth and it sort of snowballed from there.”

Completing the challenge yesterday, six-year-old Leon hiked County Wicklow’s Lugnaquilla, which is the second highest peak in the entire challenge. Thus, becoming the youngest person to hike Ireland’s 32 county peaks.
