Conversations With Friends– filmed in and around Belfast
Some of us might remember that last summer, Belfast was abuzz with the fever of Sally Rooney’s first novel, Conversations With Friends, being filmed on location in Belfast and areas of the North Coast.
Cast members and crew were seen filming in Campbell College, on the Ormeau Road, and Stranmillis, to name a few.
Of course, let’s not forget that Taylor Swift was popping up all over the city in bars and restaurants, snapping pictures with excited fans.
Now, Sally Rooney’s Conversations With Friends series release date has finally been revealed! On 15 May, we know where we’ll be.
The story – what’s it all about?
Much like the highly successful series adaptation of Normal People, Conversations With Friends follows the stories and lives of young people on their journeys through life.
In particular, the show will follow the story of 21-year-old Frances as she journeys through college and the complicated relationships that come along with it.
The new series features much of the same production crew. With the Dublin-born, Oscar-nominated film director, Lenny Abrahamson, who also directed Normal People, back on board, our senses are sure to be delighted once more.
We know we absolutely fell in love with the characters and the love story of Normal People, so the anticipation of Sally Rooney’s Conversations With Friends series release date is real!
How will the two shows compare – Normal People stars can’t wait
When the adaptation of the book was only at its beginning stages, Daisy Edgar Jones, who brought us a beautiful and emotional rendition of Marianne in Normal People, had some words to say about the series.
The actress has said she is “so excited” for the new series. She even offered to come back on set as a runner just to be a part of the series’ creation.
Now, we know a lot of people will be comparing the two series, but Jones has stated that she thinks Conversations With Friends has a “different style” and is “a little bit darker/more complex”.
With many of the same crew returning for the show’s creation, we can’t wait to see how the story unfolds on screen. Not long now!
