A once humble fishing village on the north coast of Antrim, Portrush was transformed into a popular tourist spot, thanks to the implementation of train lines.

An effective nine-mile tramway link was opened in 1893 to help visitors reach the Giant’s Causeway. So, by the end of the 19th century, the town had become one of Ireland’s most popular holiday resorts.

The town’s popularity fluctuated throughout the 20th century. However, recent years have seen the quiet Irish coastal town become a ‘rising star’ for global tourists.
