Hinch Distillery, County Down, has been making waves, nine waves, to be precise, since opening its doors in Ballynahinch in 2021.
Home to the Ninth Wave Irish Gin, Hinch Distillery has just been ranked one of the best gin distilleries in the UK among the prestigious company of the likes of Bombay Sapphire.
Tied in fifth place with Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull in Scotland, a number of factors were considered to determine which UK gin distilleries were the best.
NI gin distillery named one of the best in the UK – Hinch Distillery, Co. Down
Hinch Distillery is the only gin distillery in Northern Ireland to be named as one of the best in the UK in a recent study by South Western Railway.
The study considered factors like 5-star Google reviews, Instagram hashtags, Google searches and TikToks to determine which UK gin distilleries were the best and the most popular. They were then given a score out of 100.
Set on the breathtaking grounds of the Killaney Estate in Ballynahinch, County Down, Hinch Distillery is home to the Ninth Wave Irish Gin as well as a variety of Hinch Irish Whiskeys.
These include the Small Batch Bourbon Cask, the Peated Single Malt, the 10-Year Sherry Cask Finish, and the latest addition to the Hinch family, the Craft & Cask Imperial Stout Cask Finish.
At its inception, the Ninth Wave Irish Gin came around just in time to join the gin takeover happening all over the world.

The UK’s best gin distilleries – the cream of the crop
According to this recent study, the best gin distillery in the UK is Bombay Sapphire Distillery in Laverstoke Mill in Hampshire.
In second place is The Lakes Distillery in Cumbria, followed by Edinburgh Gin Distillery in third place.
