NI artist creates stunning artwork for Belfast airport

Local NI artist Danni Simpson was recently credited with creating a colourful Northern Ireland-themed mural at one Belfast airport.

Local artist and illustrator Danni Simpson’s beautiful creation was recently revealed at Belfast City Airport to much acclaim.

The mural features an interactive space for passengers. There is adequate area space for those wishing to take photographs with the piece of art.

Danni said about the mural, “Belfast is a vibrant city, and I thought the mural should reflect that personality. It’s been really exciting to see the project from start to finish. The transformation in the initial space to how it is now is amazing.”

The mural was planned between NI artist Danni Simpson and the business ‘The Mortgage Shop’. Thus, the aim was to create a fun and colourful mural with a Northern Irish theme which would welcome people upon arrival at Belfast City Airport.

So, The Mortgage Shop tasked Danni with the challenge of installing a bespoke creation located in the airport’s arrivals area.

The mural incorporates many of Northern Ireland’s most iconic landmarks and attractions while also helping promote The Mortgage Shop and its many branches across the country.

Siobhan McAleer, Managing Director of The Mortgage Shop, explained the reasoning behind the mural’s creation; “We wanted to do something eye-catching and unique, and this mural is the perfect blend of both.

“As one of Northern Ireland’s leading mortgage brokers, it was important for us to connect with the people of Belfast and beyond.

“Danni was able to bring our vision to life, and we’re thrilled with the results.” Danni, in turn, explained her approach to her mural creation.

She said, “When The Mortgage Shop contacted me to create a large mural inside Belfast City Airport, I thought it was a great opportunity to produce something colourful and bold, catching the eye as soon as you walk into the baggage area.

“When you get off the plane, this space is one of the first things you see, and it’s a great way to welcome people to Belfast and Northern Ireland.”
