Dublin Express plans on investing around €10 million (£8.5 million) over the next year. This investment will create eight new Caetano Levante III coaches that will operate between the cities.

The new service will be made up of 16 trips per day. They will go in each direction between Belfast city centre and both Dublin Airport and Dublin City Centre.

40 new jobs are to be created as a result in Belfast and Dungannon. This comes from the newfound need for drivers, management, maintenance and retail.

National Express has also affirmed its commitment to become the first company to operate a fully Zero Emissions Vehicle (ZEV) bus fleet in the north. Tickets can be located here.

Rory Fitzgerald, General Manager of Dublin Express, stated, “We are excited to bring the Dublin Express brand to Northern Ireland and particularly Belfast, offering a new high quality experience to passengers on the M1 corridor.

“We’ve been receiving a high volume of requests from customers asking for this service which itself stood out as an under-served route.

“We estimate the number of Northern Ireland residents using Dublin Airport annually at over 1 million due to its geographic location on the north side of the city, the seamless M1 motorway and the numerous connections to mainland Europe, the Middle East and of course transatlantic flights to the US”.
