One of the oldest, most-loved bars that sits on the outskirts of Belfast, familiarly known as Bob Stewart’s, has plans for an exciting new beer garden coming this summer.
Robert Stewart’s has been a staple bar and restaurant on the fringes of the city for generations.
It’s a spot that sits right on the edge of Belfast that people love to visit to get out of the city, especially when the nice weather hits. Now, hints of a new beer garden bring more summer intrigue.

As their website states, Bob Stewart’s has been “serving people a good time and good food right in the heart of Drumbeg” for over 400 years.
Bob Stewart’s is one of the oldest pubs in the city and has a fascinating and storied past. In 1620, an old inn called The Bell Inn was located on the site where the Lych Gate stands today, the covered archway to the grounds of Drumbeg Parish Church.
This inn acted as a welcome establishment for the weary traveller passing through back in the day. Then, in 1748, the Ale Cottage came about, and this is where Bob Stewart’s stands today.
As they say, “After a long and rich history of serving multiple purposes to the people of Ireland, the Robert Stewart’s that we know today still stands to serve, but we do it a little differently now”.
