Knock Airport reveals biggest-ever winter schedule.

Knock Airport, officially known as Ireland West Airport Knock, has just experienced what it has described as its busiest summer period on record with 102,000 passengers passing through the Western hub in August alone.

New destinations included in the winter schedule are Tenerife and Lanzarote which will be operated by the airline Ryanair.

As part of their upcoming 2023 winter schedule, Ireland West Airport Knock will have 86 flights which will take off every week to 11 different destinations across Europe.

Aer Lingus will also operate a daily service from Ireland West Airport to London Heathrow Airport which will help to provide connectivity for Ireland West passengers to approximately 80 destinations worldwide.

This includes prolific areas around the world such as Toronto, Boston, Washington and New York.

The airline Ryanair similarly to Aer Lingus will also operate flights from Knock to and from the UK to East-Midlands (Nottingham), Birmingham, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Manchester and London (Luton & Stansted) during the new 2023 winter schedule.

Knock Airport opened on 25 October 1985 with just three Aer Lingus charter flights to Rome.

The site, which was on a hill in boggy terrain, was thought unrealistic by many for an airport but following a long and controversial campaign by Monsignor James Horan (the story of which inspired a musical) proved to be successful.

By 1988, the airport had grown substantially as it had over 100,000 passengers passing through annually. The famous Irish airline Aer Lingus commenced flights from the airport to Birmingham in 1995.

Given the statistics from this Summer and the announcement of their biggest-ever winter schedule, the future of the airport is one that is looking bright.
