With changeable weather conditions defining summer across the Emerald Isle, it seems winter is well on the way this weekend.

In pretty typical fashion for Irish weather, showers are set to continue throughout Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Then, when we all go back to work on Monday, the sun will make an appearance.

With Thursday bringing heavy showers across the island and risks isolated thunderstorms and localised flooding, particularly throughout Ulster and parts of Munster, the wet weather looks set to continue throughout the weekend.

After a humid night on Thursday that will see showers continue overnight, Friday could be much the same.

Met Éireann predict scattered showers across the whole of Ireland, with some turning heavy in east Ulster and north Leinster throughout the day.

Temperatures will reach highs of 16 C (60.8 F) to 20 C (68 F), so humidity is set to continue throughout the day.

While showers are set to continue throughout Friday night and into Saturday, you may be glad to hear that temperatures are set to cool as we move into the weekend.

Regions and Ulster and the Atlantic coast will see the worst showers on Friday night. However, long clear spells are set to develop elsewhere across the country.

The rain is set to ease as we move into Saturday, with only localised showers predicted. Sunny spells are set to break through throughout the country, with highs of 16 C (60.8 F) to 20 C (68 F) and a light breeze from the west.

Saturday night is to be mostly dry, with some scattered patches of rain and drizzle across Ireland.

As we move into Sunday, sunny spells will break through throughout the day. However, cloud cover is set to increase as the day goes on.

With a light breeze and highs of 15 C (59 F) to 19 C (66.2 F), conditions will feel much more autumnal at the end of the weekend.

Sunday night will be mostly dry, with low cloud spreading throughout the island. Mist and fog will also develop in patches.

Moving into next week – bright and sunny spells from Monday

Ireland weather forecast predicts that the sun is set to return as we move into next week.

Monday will be defined by sunny spells, with showers confined to western counties. Temperatures are set to reach highs of 17 C (62.6 F) to 20 C (68 F).

Met Éireann predict that light rain will to return on Tuesday, continuing throughout much of next week. Temperatures will range between 12 C (53.6 F) and 20 C (68 F) and parts of Ireland could see scattered showers.
