Ireland has come out on top as the best place to be during the Delta variant, according to Bloomberg’s monthly Covid Resilience Ranking.

After a steady rise since the start of 2021, Ireland has been named the best place to be during the Delta variant.

Coming from a period of having the ‘worst outbreak in the world’, Ireland has reached an impressive 90% vaccination uptake. Thus, helping it rise to the top of Bloomberg’s Covid Resilience Ranking.

With variant strains constantly threatening another massive outbreak, people worldwide are wondering which countries have handled the crisis best.

There are many reasons to love life on the Emerald Isle. From the friendly people to the stunning scenery, the great beer to the vibrant culture, Ireland has a lot to offer.

Now, however, there is one more reason to choose a life in Ireland. It is ranked the best place to be during Delta.

U.S. financial, software, data, and media company Bloomberg compiles a monthly Covid Resilience Ranking. This shows which countries are handling the crisis best.

This month’s list highlighted ‘The Best and Worst Places to Be as We Learn to Live With Delta’.

Bloomberg’s Covid Resilience Ranking gives a monthly snapshot of where the virus is being handled most and least effectively.

Considerations include vaccination uptake, quality of healthcare, overall mortality, and progress towards easing border controls.

This month, Ireland ranked the best place to be during Delta, overtaking Norway in the top spot. Overall, it is European nations that have continued to dominate the top spots over the past three months.

Revealing Ireland to be the best place to be during Delta, Bloomberg look at the strategy adopted by the nation.

They wrote, “Even as the peak summer travel season unfolded alongside Delta’s spread, Ireland and places like Spain, the Netherlands, and Finland held down serious illness and deaths through pioneering moves to largely limit quarantine-free entry to immunized people.

“Bestowing more domestic freedoms on the inoculated helped boost vaccination levels to some of the highest in the world. Over 90% of Ireland’s adult population has received two shots, while allowing social activity to resume safely.”

The easing of restrictions – a return to normality

As restrictions continue to ease across Ireland, Europe, and further afield, people are hoping for a light at the end of what has been a very dark tunnel.

Taoiseach Michéal Martin responded to the news on Twitter. Posting a link to the list, he wrote, “Ireland ranked the most resilient country in the world in dealing with the #COVID19 pandemic.

“Testament to the hard work of the HSE and the Irish people.”

On the flip side, the United States dropped three places to take the 28th spot in this month’s ranking.

Meanwhile, the Delta variant has hit South East Asian countries the hardest. Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, and the Philippines sit in bottom five.
