International fundraising website GoFundMe analysed data from throughout 2021 and concluded that Ireland is the most generous country in the world.

An international crowdfunding website has named Ireland the most generous country in the world for 2021.
According to the US crowdfunding platform GoFundMe, the people of Ireland gave the highest number of donations per capita.
This is not the first time the people of Ireland have been recognised for their giving nature. In fact, 2021 marks the third year that Ireland tops the ranking.
A generous nation – always happy to help those in need

According to GoFundMe’s annual giving report, Ireland is the most generous country in the world for 2021.
The people of Ireland are renowned for their friendly, welcoming nature, and warm Irish hospitality is recognised globally. So, it really comes as no surprise that the people of Ireland are a pretty generous bunch, too.
The report even revealed which cities in Ireland proved the most giving throughout 2021, with Galway taking the top spot. Dublin came in second position, followed by Limerick, Cork, and Waterford in fourth, fifth, and sixth.
Following on from a difficult year – rallying together for a better world

Revealing their annual giving report, GoFundMe reflected on the difficulty of the past couple of years for many.
They wrote, “If 2020 was a year in crisis, 2021 was The Year of Gratitude.
“We saw this sentiment echoed throughout the GoFundMe community, with 15 million messages of thanks sent to and from the millions of donors who stepped up to help others this year.
“As we look back on some of the standout moments that brought us together, we hope to pass that gratitude along to you.”
Alongside naming Ireland the most generous country in the world, highlights from 2021 include the most generous person, who made a whopping 434 donations throughout the year.
Alongside that, GoFundMe reported that one donation was made per second and one in three fundraisers were started for someone else.
The most generous day of the year – in-depth analysis of worldwide generosity

The in-depth GoFundMe report revealed plenty of information about worldwide generosity.
According to the report, 28 March 2021 was the most generous day of the year. On this day, the global GoFundMe committee submitted over 100,000 for a family and their baby daughter fighting leukaemia in the UK.
Following Ireland as the most generous country in the world, other nations recognised for their generosity included the US, the UK, Canada, and Australia.
Moving into 2022, GoFundMe reflected on how 2021 brought people around the world together.
“In 2021, we rallied together,” they wrote on their website. “ We turned hard-to-watch headlines into meaningful help when it mattered most.
“We felt more connected to our own dreams by supporting the ambitions of others. And we were all better – and grateful – for it.”
