US News and World Report released their ultimate ranking of best countries in the world ‒ and we weren’t too surprised to see that Ireland made the list.
A new global survey by a US newspaper has revealed that Ireland is one of the best countries in the world.
To come up with the ranking, US News and World Report identified 73 country attributes. Countries were ranked according to their business climate, quality of life, social purpose, cultural influence, and more.
Developed by the BAV Group and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, the rankings give an insight into global perceptions of 85 nations.
An impressive ranking ‒ plenty of reasons to love Ireland
Ireland was named one of the best countries in the world, according to the global survey, ranking alongside 15 other European countries to make the top 25.
Claiming 23rd position, Ireland scored highly for its scenery and friendliness. The Emerald Isle is also ranked eighth among best countries for travelling alone. It is perceived to be among the world’s happiest countries, too.
Marking no change from its ranking in 2021, Ireland continues to be one of the best countries in the world, according to global opinion.
How Ireland scored overall ‒ where the Emerald Isle excels
US News and World Report gave Ireland an overall score of 62.5. The Emerald Isle received its highest score of 72.7 for the Open for Business category. Ireland also scored 65.2 for Quality of Life and 64.8 for Social Purpose.
Ireland also ranked ninth country in the world for Comfortable Retirement. Therefore, making it an attractive option for those looking to enjoy a peaceful retirement.
Where Ireland was held back compared to other countries was in the ‘Power’ and ‘Movers’ categories. These rate a country’s power in shaping global economic patterns and its future growth.
In these categories, the Emerald Isle received scores of just 6.1 and 12.8, respectively.
Ireland is one of the best countries in the world ‒ how other countries ranked
Switzerland claimed the top spot on 2022 list of best countries in the world, taking the crown from Canada, who topped the list last year.
Germany was named second overall, while Canada dropped two places to rank third. The United States ranked fourth, climbing two spots from 2021, while Sweden jumped four places to rank fifth.
Japan claimed sixth place, followed by Australia and the UK, which ranked seventh and eighth. Closing out the top ten, France ranked ninth and Denmark tenth.
European countries such as Greece, Luxembourg, Austria, Spain, Finland, Italy, Norway, the Netherlands, and the Chocolate capital of Belgium also ranked among the top 25 best countries in the world.
