Ireland and Canada have a long-standing history with one another, with the first Irish settlers arriving in Canada way back in the 17th century. This was around the same time the French began to arrive in Canada.

Alongside that, the French brought Irish soldiers along with them as they arrived at the coasts of Canada.

Due to the rich fishing industry off of the coasts in the 18th century, Irish fishermen took off and sailed Newfoundland and Labrador. A lot of them ended up settling in the province and spending the rest of their lives there.

Many Irish people travelled over to Canada during the famine in the desperate hope that they would find more plentiful food sources over the other side of the Atlantic.

This was only the start of many Irish settlers to grace Canada and make it their home.

Great entertainment – music, games, and dance

Entertainment is something Ireland is well-known for. Although Canada has its specialties, you won’t be short of a good time in Ireland.

Online casinos are particularly new in Canada and due to them being highly regulated, you can play at the best ones over in Canada. So, this is fuelling their love for games.

Ireland does however rival Canada when it comes to things like pub culture as there truly is no competitor to true, traditional Irish pubs.

Famous for its live music and dancing, nowhere else in the world compares. There’s nothing quite like sitting in an Irish pub and listening to some of the old traditional songs that have been passed down for generations.

It’s even better to enjoy this with a pint of Guinness – but that might be something to get used to if you’re Canadian.

You may even become accustomed to the term ‘splitting the G’, but we will let you discover that technique for drinking a print once you’re there.

Ireland is becoming one of the industrial heavyweights of the world thanks to things like its 12.5% corporation tax.

There are lots of industries in Ireland that are thriving at the moment. Some of them are:

  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Medical devices
  • Cyber tech
  • Financial services
  • Clean technologies
  • Information and communication technologies

Regardless of whether you’re investing in a business like this in Ireland, or thinking of starting up your own, these are the ones that are looking like the most promising options.

Clean technologies are of particular importance to the Irish government. They are prioritising strong transport systems and infrastructure, and working on the impact of climate change.

Many are putting a massive ten-year plan together that includes a huge investment of €116 billion.

This capital investment plan will work alongside a new National Planning Framework to improve regional connectivity and competitiveness. It will also help to improve environmental sustainability for the whole country.

It is no wonder that Ireland and Canada have a great relationship, and this is set to continue well into the future.
