Heinz has released a brand new limited edition green mayonnaise to celebrate St Patrick’s Day – but there are only 75 jars available.
Last month, Heinz and Weetabix shocked the internet by proposing baked beans as the perfect topping for the popular breakfast cereal.
This month, however, Heinz has taken it a step further to honour Ireland’s national holiday, St Patrick’s Day, which falls on 17 March.
The American food company has unveiled a brand new green mayonnaise for St Patrick’s Day – and apparently, it’s made with real shamrock grown in the fields of County Kerry.
Would you try green mayonnaise? – an unusual condiment
Many people across the world honour St Patrick’s Day in their own way – and the U.S. is often recognised for going above and beyond to celebrate the Irish holiday.
Chicago is known to dye its river green, many U.S. residents will dress in their best green attire, and many Irish bars serve an unusual green beer throughout the day. However, Heinz has taken it one step further.
Their limited edition “Seriously Good Shamrock Mayo” was released to “celebrate Heinz’s love of Ireland” by blending Irish shamrock with their popular egg-based condiment.
Maria Jantchi, Marketing Manager at Heinz UK, said on the launch of the new mayo,
“When St. Patrick’s Day 2020 celebrations were cancelled all around the world last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we set about thinking how we could make this St. Patrick’s Day 2021 one to remember.
“And after a year of planning, testing and tasting, we are thrilled to present the first of its kind … it’s green, it’s creamy, and it’s utterly delicious! It’s Heinz [Seriously] Good Shamrock Mayo. The most St. Patrick’s Day-y mayo possible.”
How to get your very own jar – try it for yourself
There are only 75 jars available of the extremely limited edition shamrock mayo, so if you want to get your hands on your very own jar of Heinz green mayonnaise for St Patrick’s Day, head over to Heinz Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram to find out more.

Making use of the Irish shamrock – a delicious addition
Shamrock-grower James O’Leary, whose shamrocks have been used in the Heinz green mayonnaise for St Patrick’s Day, said,
“Our shamrock has been carefully cultivated in Ballinaskelligs, County Kerry, one of the greenest places in the southwest of Ireland.
“Some might say ours is the most famous shamrock in the world, and who are we to argue with them!
“We were delighted to provide the shamrock to Heinz for this truly unique campaign to celebrate our Irish culture, and we hope that anyone lucky enough to win a jar can taste the love and care we have put into nurturing our shamrock.”
