Don’t put away the Factor 50 just yet – summer is returning

We hope you have some annual leave left because you might just want to book a few days off to soak up the rays in the coming weeks.
A recent weather map from Met Eireann has shown when the next ‘extreme heatwave’ will hit Ireland – and it’s sooner than we thought.
Temperatures are set to soar to highs of 27 C in some areas, particularly around Connacht and West Ulster. So, it looks like we’re in for another hot spell over the coming weeks.
Highest temperatures of the year – the best is yet to come

Revealing the good news, the team at Ireland’s Weather Channel said, “It’s about to get very hot out here. Temperatures into the mid-/high-20s with long spells of sunshine.”
They continued, “We’re about to experience the highest temperatures of the year so far this coming week as high pressure establishes itself once again across the country.”
Met Eireann’s heat map shows that high pressure will start to build from Monday, 16 June, with a spell of hot air spreading north across Ireland on Wednesday.
The hot spell is set to last at least three days, with weather experts predicting it could stay for up to a week. However, heavy showers are also likely towards the end of the week due to high humidity.
