A Galway restaurant was recently honoured by being named ‘Best in Ireland’ by a world-famous food guide.

Galway’s incredible food scene can boast another gem in its crown, with one of its most popular restaurants recently named ‘Best in Ireland’. The honour was bestowed on them by the prestigious McKenna Guide website.
Having co-written several award-winning guidebooks, John and Sally McKenna have established themselves as an authoritative voice on Irish food culture since starting out in 1989.
Now, followers of the McKenna Guide will surely flock to this popular Galway pizza shop for an award-worthy slice.

Dough Bros – best restaurant in Ireland

Dough Bros currently possess two Galway branches (one on Middle Street and one located at the back of O’Connell’s Pub).
The pizzeria is well-known and well-loved in the establishment thanks to its incredible offering of pizzas, considered by many to be the best in the city if not the country.
The news that they have been named the best restaurant in Ireland came as a huge pick-me-up on 15 January, known internationally as Blue Monday, supposedly the most depressing day of the year.
In their post on social media, Dough Bros personally thanked the McKenna Guide for the recognition of their hard efforts and also praised their loyal fans and followers.
Their post on social media read: “BLUE MONDAY ME ARSE… ‘When you eat a Dough Bros Pizza, you eat a slice of Irish Culture’.
“Always one of the highlights of the year when this comes through the letterbox. Thank you @mckennasguides not only for the award. Them few words ain’t bad either”.

From world-class seafood restaurants to cheap and cheerful local joints, the city, indeed the county at large, boasts some fantastic eateries.
One of the city’s newest restaurants helped uphold Galway’s culinary prowess, with the Daróg Wine Bar receiving lavish praise in a sterling review by Irish Examiner food critic, Leslie Williams.
Daróg Wine Bar’s owners were delighted with the mention as they thanked Leslie in a social media post that read, “Thank you so much for the kind words @lesliewinefood in this weekend’s edition of the @irish_examiner and to all our amazing team!”
