The former home of Irish author Frank O’Connor, known for his poetry, plays, and memoirs, Castleville has gone on the market for just under four million euros.

Located within a stunning Dublin park, the property forms part of what once was Sandymount Castle. Built in the mid-19th century by local merchant family, The Corbetts, the castle is a significant historic site.

Since then, it has been broken up into several smaller properties but still maintains many of its original features.

Castleville became relatively worn down over the years. However, its current owners, who bought the property back in 2015, set about restoring it to its former glory.

Enlisting the help of a team of architects to reconfigure the space, they ensured that the property retained much of its period charm while making it bright and airy inside.

The entryway features an attractive oak herringbone floor with double doors leading into a beautiful home cinema. On the other side of the entrance, Castleville features its very own library, which overlooks Sandymount Green.

Nearby, you can even check out the busts of Irish literary giants, W.B. Yeats and Seamus Heaney.

Currently on the market for €3.95 million, you can view the full listing on myhome.ie here.
