UK-based financial services comparison platform Confused.com have come up with the ultimate list of most romantic road trips in the world – and one famous Irish route has made the top ten.

Analysing thousands of reviews to calculate a ‘romance score’ for each drive, the comparison website came up with the ultimate ranking.

Irish route named among world’s most romantic road trips – an iconic journey
The Wild Atlantic Way, which stretches 2,600 km (1,600 miles) from Donegal in the north to Cork in the south, has been recognised as one of the top ten most romantic road trips in the world.
With breathtaking coastal views, magnificent cliff faces, and stunning sandy beaches, romance is abundant along this famous Irish road trip.
First launched in February 2014 to attract an increase in tourism to the Emerald Isle, the Wild Atlantic Way has quickly become Ireland’s most trodden trail.

Other contenders – tough competition
The Irish route ranked sixth on the list of the world’s most romantic road trips. Scoring an overall romance score of 7.39 out of a possible ten, love is certainly in the air.
The beautiful German Alpine Road scored an impressive 9.56. Along this route, drivers can marvel at the iconic Neuschwanstein Castle and take in the breathtaking Alpine scenery all around.
Italy claimed the next two spots, with Puglia and the Amalfi Coast coming in second and third. Puglia scored an impressive 9.13 and the Amalfi Coast a respectable 8.69.
Scotland’s North Coast 500 ranked fourth, with 8.26, and Tuscany claimed the fifth spot with 7.82.
Following the Wild Atlantic Way is Canada’s Icefields Parkway in seventh and Norway’s Lofoten in eighth. Closing out the top ten, Highway One in the USA came in ninth. Then, the aptly named Romantic Road in Germany came in tenth.
