Everything you need to know about the 2020 Belfast Book Festival

We’ve got all the info you’ll need regarding the 10th annual Belfast Book Festival.

It’s probably an understatement to say that us Irish love our books. We’re a nation filled with strong literary talent stretching back centuries.

We also love a good festival too, and what do you get when you combine wonderful books and a fantastic festival? Heaven. You get Heaven.

Below is all the information you’ll need about the 2020 Belfast Book Festival, now in its 10th glorious year.

The annual Belfast Book Festival will be held in the city’s Crescent Arts Centre, from June 5th to June 14th. That’s right, an entire ten days of absolutely amazing literary and artistic celebration. We’re pretty pumped about it.

Right now, the event listing for writers and other artists attending the festival is under wraps. But with the festival coming up in early June, you can be sure that you won’t have too long to wait until you find out what’s on. In fact, the Crescent Art Centre’s website states that they’re due to announce their line-up in April.

And, since the festival is celebrating its 10th year in 2020, it promises to be a literary extravaganza, bringing together an incredible programme of events to the city. We’re really excited to see which writers and artists will be attending.

Anyone who has visited before will know that the Belfast Book Festival is more than just a straightforward literary event — it’s a fantastic collection and celebration of all things artistic, from music to theatre, from film to books and comedy.

But it is also much, much more than that. It’s like a big family, all coming together to celebrate creativity.

Last year’s event covered a wide range of interests and explored topical themes. It brought some of the most exceptional artistic talent currently working into Belfast, as well as showcasing the wealth of talent we have on our shores.

Since beginning in 2010, the festival has grown from strength to strength and is now the most diverse and largest literary festival in Northern Ireland. We are so excited to attend this year’s edition!

Don’t just take our word for it

Chairperson of the Crescent Arts Centre, Charlotte Jess, had this to say about last year’s Belfast Book Festival:

“With over 80 diverse events taking place in venues across the city, we are delighted to have assembled a great line-up for our 9th Belfast Book Festival.

“This year’s [2019] festival has been designed with all in mind and will welcome both celebrated international authors and poets, as well as showcasing the wealth of local talent that defines our thriving literary community.

“Books matter, authors matter, and words matter. They must be cherished and championed. This is the ethos with which we have proudly programmed this year’s Belfast Book Festival.”

She concluded: “A huge thank you to our funders, sponsors, partners, staff, and of course you, our festival-goers, for your kind support – we can only do what we do, because of you.”

We can’t implore you enough to check out this fantastic festival if you are a fan of art and creativity. Hopefully, we’ll see you there!
