Things to see – there’s plenty of beautiful sights
As this is a seaside town and fishing port, it has, unfortunately, had several tragedies. To commemorate those who have lost their lives at sea, there is a Lost at Sea Memorial at the entrance to the harbour. This serves as a poignant reminder of the power of the sea.

If you want to explore some of the quieter parts of Dunmore East, then you will enjoy the Dunmore East Coastal Walk.
This walk takes you along the cliffs, offering spectacular views of the sea. The walk ends at Portally Cove, which is a quiet and sheltered spot for swimming. You may even be so lucky as to spot some seals who live in the area!
Keep your eyes peeled for the quaint and traditional thatched cottages. These white-washed buildings with straw topped-roofs are incredibly beautiful and add to the charm of the village. They overlook the sea, making for a jaw-dropping photo opportunity.

Every August, Dunmore East is home to the Bluegrass Festival. Attracting people from all over the world, this beautiful holiday town comes alive with bluegrass, blues, and country music. Almost 40 music performances take place in various venues over several days.
There are two beaches in Dunmore East that are patrolled by lifeguards during the summer months.
These beaches are extremely safe for swimming and have a range of amenities located nearby. However, be aware that when the tide is in, it covers the beach!

If you are a fan of fresh fish, then be sure to head to the Dunmore East Fish Shop.
The fish on sale here is brought directly off the boats that come into the harbour. They sell a range of fresh fish, so you are bound to find something delicious to cook up.
