Harvey’s Point, which is located snuggly on the shores of Lough Eske, has been named one of the best hotels in Europe, ranking 25th on a recent list by Tripadvisor.
Furthermore, it has also been named the number-one hotel in Ireland for the fifth time in a row. Here’s the story.

The renowned hotel in Donegal Town, which captivates people from all over the world with its charming atmosphere, idyllic lakeside location and excellent cuisine, has been named one of the best hotels in Europe by Tripadvisor.
Placing 25th in their 2023 Travellers Choice Best of the Best Top Hotels Awards, the top-class hotel is set to welcome even more visitors.
Nestled in the captivating surroundings of the Blue Stack Mountains, Harvey’s Point has always been the perfect choice for a romantic getaway or a relaxing break.
The hotel is well known for its gourmet food, excellent accommodation and stunning views. Still, it has officially ranked as one of the best on the continent.
Global travellers have decided – Donegal hotel named one of the best in Europe
According to Tripadvisor, the hotel exudes “an air of romance” and is highly regarded for its top-class facilities, as determined by global travellers across ten categories.
The Travelers Choice Best of the Best Hotels awards recognises the highest-rated accommodations and showcases exceptional hotels that have received excellent reviews and opinions from the Tripadvisor community.
With less than one per cent of the millions of listings on Tripadvisor receiving the Best of the Best accolade, the fact that Harvey’s Point – a northwest gem- has been included speaks volumes of its reputation and commitment to providing the best service.
If placing 25th on the list of Europe’s best hotels wasn’t enough, the Donegal Hotel has been named the best hotel in Ireland, placing top spot ahead of Ashford Castle in County Mayo and Muckross Park Hotel & Spa in County Kerry.
The achievement reinforces its position as a premier destination hotel in the northwest of Ireland.
Apart from the comprehensive selection for the Top Hotels category, Tripadvisors awards also recognise excellence in the sub-categories such as all-inclusive hotels, B&Bs, luxury hotels and family-friendly hotels.

The top hotels across Ireland, as recognised by TripAdvisor, include Harvey’s Point in Donegal Town, Ashford Castle in Cong, The Merrion Hotel in Dublin, Muckross Park Hotel and Spa in Killarney, Fernhill House Hotel in Clonakilty, Meadowlands Hotel in Tralee, Dromoland Castle Hotel in Newmarket-on-Fergus, The Killarney Park in Killarney, Adare Manor in Adare, and Ballygarry Estate Hotel & Spa in Tralee.
While the hotels listed are excellent choices, Harvey’s Point was described on the list as being “set in the mystical, magical shadow of the Blue Stack Mountains on the shores of Lough Eske”.
