The best one yet – season three of Derry Girls

The show gained popularity due to its distinct Northern Irish sense of humour and its lighthearted storyline, despite the background of the conflict in Northern Ireland in the 1990s.
Fans of the show from all over the world have fallen in love with the Derry accent and the candid, sarcastic tone of the characters.
Tweeting on Saturday night, Derry Girls star Nicola Coughlan raised fans’ spirits by confirming the long-awaited season three is set to begin filming this week.
She wrote, alongside a gif taken from the show, “Can confirm series 3 of Derry Girls is filming this year, and I cannae bloody wait.”
“Covid has pushed back filming several times. But honestly, the storylines in this series are the best we’ve ever done, so I can’t tell you how worth it the wait will have been.”
Response from fans – great news

Hearing the great news, fans reflected on the relatability of the show for those who have grown up in Northern Ireland.
One wrote, “Neither can I! I was the only female in a year 12 maths class at an all-boys catholic school, and there was no female toilet. I understood the pain of James…”
Another commented on the fact that she has been unable to visit Northern Ireland due to restrictions, and watching the show made her feel like she was back in Northern Ireland,
“I haven’t been able to go to Northern Ireland because of Covid, so it’s been years since I’ve seen my family, and when I’m missing it, I get a packet of Taytos, open the window, and stick on derry girls to make me feel better.”
In the meantime, fans of the show have been watching another Netflix drama, Bridgerton, in which Coughlan stars as the young Penelope Featherington in the midst of the 1813 London social season.
