Derry Girls quickly became one of the most beloved Irish TV shows of all time when it first aired back in January 2018 on Channel 4.

The show follows the lives of Erin, Michelle, Clare, Orla, and James, aka ‘the wee English fella’ navigating their teenage years at the tale end of the Troubles in Derry, Northern Ireland.

A uniquely Irish show with hilarious characters that represent everyone in the local parish, the show found love not just on the Emerald Isle but much further afield, too.

US audiences loved the show as much as the Irish did. While it only ran for three short but memorable series, it’s one that will certainly go down in history.

Boston has great ties to the Emerald Isle. In fact, people of Irish descent make up the largest single ethnic group in Massachusetts.

It has the highest percentage of Irish ancestry compared to any other US city, with around 20% of Bostonians claiming Irish heritage.

St. Patrick’s Day festivities in Boston are some of the biggest around the world.

The city is painted green, white and orange, from the 17 March parade, one of the biggest St. Patrick’s Day parades in the USA, to the copious events leading up to the big day and so much more.
