The general public will immediately recognise the AA for its rating systems for hotels and restaurants. It began this practice in the early 1900s. Since then, the AA logo has become a hallmark of quality in the industry.

The AA Hospitality Awards are among the most prestigious awards in the UK hospitality sector. The ceremony welcomes over 1,000 guests from the industry each year, including renowned chefs, hoteliers, restauranteurs, and media personalities.

The latest ceremony took place earlier this week (25 September) in London’s Grosvenor House and honoured the best hotels and restaurants in the UK across 26 categories, with a County Armagh hotel taking top prize in the Northern Ireland category.

Northern Ireland has no shortage of excellent hotels to suit any budget, so competition in this category was surely stiff. In the end, however, the AA Hospitality Awards named Newry’s Killeavy Castle Estate the best hotel in Northern Ireland.

This beautiful spa haven sits among the county’s incredible woodlands. On top of a relaxing and comfortable stay, the hotel and spa offers guests a range of beneficial treatments.

Killeavy Castle Estate finds itself in esteemed company. Previous winners include County Antrim’s Rabbit Hotel, Belfast’s Fitzwilliam Hotel, and Bishop’s Gate Hotel in Derry.

Killeavy Castle Estate was the only Irish winner across the entire 26 categories.
