In the early hours of this morning, 9 January, Pizza Guyz on the Andersonstown Road was burned down.
In a recent social media post from Pizza Guyz, they revealed that someone drove into, robbed, and set fire to their Andersonstown Road location in Belfast in the early hours of this morning, 9 January.
Their social media pages have been flooded with messages of shock, appal, and support from the community and beyond.
Pizza Guyz Belfast – a Belfast favourite
Pizza Guyz operates three different takeaway restaurants throughout Belfast, including the West, South, and North.
The Andersonstown Road location in West Belfast was the flagship restaurant, first opened in 2017, and is a staple in the area.
The pizza joint is award-winning, including accolades such as ‘Best Takeaway’ and ‘Best Pizza’ at the NI Takeaway Awards.
Owner Ciaran Kelly is known locally for his charitable contributions and constant support for the local community.
Comments of shock and support have flooded underneath the Pizza Guyz post relating to the incident.
Arson attack, 9 January – a shocking incident
In the early hours of this morning, the PSNI and NIFRS were called to the incident at Pizza Guyz on the Andersonstown Road.
The shop had been rammed by a car, robbed, and set alight. In a social media post, Pizza Guyz said, “So this has just happened in the early hours.
“We got rammed, then robbed and set on fire. Any information, please contact the police. The car is a Honda accord.
“2 guys caught in garage buying petrol just before at local petrol station, probably not their smartest move”.
The road between Fruithill Park and Dunmisk Park was closed for a period with diversions but has since reopened.
In a later statement, the PSNI said, “The Andersonstown Road has reopened following an earlier fire in the area; however please be aware that delays may remain and allow additional time for your journey”.
