The best way to reach Barleycove Beach is undoubtedly by car, as public transport can prove quite difficult.

If you’re travelling from Cork City via public transport, bus route 229 will take you to Bantry via Innishannon, Bandon, Enniskeane, Ballineen, Dunmanway, and Drimoleague. But even from Bantry or Drimoleague, you’ll still have about an hour’s drive ahead of you.

If you’re based in Cork City and have access to a car, the 122 km (75.8 mi) drive will take about two hours. The free car park at Barleycove Beach is quite small, and it gets very busy during the popular summer months.

You could also enquire about parking your car at the nearby Barleycove Beach Hotel, but this will of course be at the discretion of the hotel management.
